How do you mesure petrolium , by mass or volume? If so how much amount is there in a barrel?
the wikipedia says Oil barrel =42 US gallons =158.9873 litres So the mesurement is from Volume But doesn't the volume of a liquid expand according to the temperature? If so shouldn't it be measured by mass rather than Volume? If not so please explain

The volume change of petrol in small quntity is not visible say for 100 lit. or 500 lit. But if the quntity is in thousands of tonnes, then the volume does increase with rise in temp. Thats why the serveyors use Tables contaning Volume against temperature data.
